My name is Ian Matje and welcome to diesel one and two. I was born in Orange, California and moved to Colorado in 1996. I live in Longmont, CO with my wife, Hannah and our two dogs, Maverick and Jasmine. This will be my second year teaching as a diesel instructor at Bollman Technical Education Center. In addition to teaching at Bollman I am also an automotive adjunct instructor at Front Range Community College in Fort Collins, which offers a unique perspective as I work with students to prepare them for higher education and/or finding employment in the automotive/diesel field after graduation.
I am a certified ASE Master Technican with 22 ASE certifications specializing in automotive, diesel, diagnostics, and hybrid systems. I currently am in the process of completing my Bachelor of Science in Automotive Technology online through Weber State University. Prior to becoming an instructor I spent the previous 12 years as a master technician working in both dealerships and independent repair facilities that specialized in imports, domestics, and medium-heavy duty diesel vehicles.
Some of my hobbies include: Hiking, camping, project cars, spending time with my family and traveling.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience in the diesel/automotive field and getting to know all my students.
