Do you want to own your own business? Are you a Food Network addict? Do you want a career that allows you to travel the world and learn about new cultures? Do you want to pursue a great job and a successful career in the restaurant, hospitality, or lodging industry? If your answers are yes, then ProStart may be for you. The course will include, but is not limited to, industry terminology, history of restaurants, food and beverage services, introduction to marketing, sanitation and safety procedures, nutrition and dietary guidelines, food preparation (and quantity food production), “back-of-the-house” and “front-of-the-house”, use and care of commercial cooking equipment, food storage, management, guest service and relationships, planning, resource management, and other topics related to managing and operating restaurants.

ProStart is a nationally-certified, career-building business management program for high school students who are interested in culinary arts. The ProStart curriculum is a competency-based study of food preparation, sanitation, business management principles, and customer service coupled with industry mentored paid work internships in a broad spectrum of operations.
